Getting to Rawai from the airport

Rawai and neighbouring Nai Harn are at the far south of the island, so this is the longest of the west-coast transfers — over an hour by car and around 1,000–1,300 baht by taxi or limousine. The Phuket Smart Bus terminates at Rawai for a flat 100 baht, but from the airport that's roughly two hours or more with every stop in between.

Which option suits Rawai

Given the distance, most visitors with luggage take a private transfer or taxi so they arrive without a long, stop-start bus ride. A shared minivan is the budget middle ground. The Smart Bus only makes sense in daylight and if you truly want the cheapest fare.

Local tips for Rawai

Rawai is more a local, lived-in area than a resort strip — it's the launch point for longtail and speedboat trips to Coral Island and the southern islands, with a famous seafood market. Nai Harn Beach, just around the headland, is the swimming beach. Tell your driver whether you want Rawai pier, Rawai village or Nai Harn.
