Land at HKT? Here's the smart way to your beach

The airport sits in the quiet north of the island, so the ride to Patong, Kata or Karon takes a while. Compare the Smart Bus, minivan and taxi, or book a private transfer that meets you at arrivals.

Not the airport's site, and not a transport operator

Fixed price in Thai baht

Agree your fare before you ride — no meter creeping up, no late-night surcharge surprises on the long drive south.

Met inside the terminal, not at an exit

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and tracks your flight. Grab and Bolt work differently here — app pickups happen outside, at the T2 Exit 8 booth or T3 Exit 1, so you walk out with your luggage first.

Door-to-door, any beach

Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala or a villa up in Bang Tao — one car for you and your luggage, straight to the door.

Getting from Phuket Airport to your hotel

Phuket International Airport (HKT) sits at the northern tip of the island, roughly 30–50 km from most beaches, and there is no train or metro. Your realistic options are the flat-fare Phuket Smart Bus, a shared minivan, a metered taxi or fixed-price AOT limousine, a Grab, or a pre-booked private transfer. Which one is best depends on your beach, your budget and what time you land.

Phuket Smart Bus — ฿100 flat
One route runs down the west coast from the airport to Rawai, calling at Nai Yang, Bang Tao, Surin, Kamala, Patong, Karon and Kata. It's the cheapest way out, but slow — around 90 minutes to Patong. Departures from the airport run every 30 minutes or so, 08:15–23:30, which covers most evening arrivals; the catch is the other direction, where the last bus to the airport leaves Patong at about 20:20.
Shared minivan — ฿180–300 per person
Buy a seat at a desk in arrivals, wait for the van to fill, then share drop-offs along the way. Cheaper than a private car and a good fit for couples travelling light.
Taxi, AOT limousine or Grab
A direct door-to-door ride: about ฿700–800 to Patong on the meter (a ฿100 airport surcharge is added), or ฿800–1,000 fixed at the AOT limousine desk (more to Kata or Karon). Grab shows the price up front, but supply near the airport can be thin.
Private transfer
A driver meets you in arrivals with a name board and takes you straight to your hotel at a price agreed in advance — the easiest option after a long-haul or late-night flight.
